Entry 15.

It is the dead of winter here, although you would never know it by the 80 degree temps we enjoyed today. That beats Paarl's 1996 high temp record for Aug. 4th by 16 degrees!

The city of Paarl's namesake are these rock formations. 'Paarl' translates into 'pearl' and when these giant granite domes are wet after a rain, they glisten like pearls. We hiked up the one on the left this morning.

A very healthy, steep hike. Made me miss Matt - he would have liked this view.

This evening the Hellings were kind enough to host a Braai as a little going away party.

Ursula came, of course...

... as did Francisco and his family. A sweet ending to my last full day in S. Africa!

One little sweetie-pie is looking forward to some Mama hugs and snuggles!! She gets a grin on her face, when after asking where you are, that you'll be here in a couple of days!!
