Pre-K Kiddo

If Avery had been born 2 weeks earlier, she would be starting Kindergarten this year. But she comes up just shy of the state age deadline. That means one more year of Preschool for my little songbird. I seriously considered having her tested in, because she is sooo ready for something beyond shape and color recognition. But ultimately, I decided it won't hurt to be one of the older kids in her grade. And a small part of me is totally ok with her being "just a kid" for another year longer.

However, she also has a voracious appetite for learning that isn't fully satisfied by doing housework and errands with Lear and me all day. 4 mornings of half-day Pre-K a week is just perfect. After completing her first school week, she is enthusiastic about her new class and teacher. She even asked if I could "just drop her off and not come in" on Monday. Um, no. Mom is walking you to class and smooching your sweet forehead for as long as humanly possible... one more year.

She insisted on a picture with Lear. And he really wanted to hold her hand.
Tucking that little moment in my heart, for sure.
