Frankenpizza & Other Things

When Matt travels for work, my formal meal plans go out the window. Cooking is my least favorite homemaker duty - can't be awesome at everything, you know! The kids are still young enough that they don't really care if we eat cereal or grilled cheese for dinner when it's just us.

Last night Avery asked for pizza. It was getting too late to wait 40 minutes for delivery, so...

Allow me to introduce you to Frankenpizza! (aka: what-on-earth-do-I-have-in-the-house-that-could-resemble-pizza)

So tasty that Avery requested it by name for lunch today.

Should it concern me that they have to clarify this?!

End of summer is so close! We've spent the last half of our first hot, humid Virginia summer relishing the (finally) cooler temps here.

Backyard Home Run Derbies are the best.

Kiss that one goodbye, folks.

Lear's VIP box seat.

This little boy cracks me up. That right cheek dimple that he inherited from his Daddy just melts me every time.

He is ALL BOY. Cars, trucks, heavy construction equipment, motorcycles and dinosaurs... Try singing any traditional goodnight song at bedtime and it's wiggly "no, no, no, no." But start softly crooning "Wheels on the Bus" and he snuggles right up, content to listen and rock.

Did you know dump trucks make great sippy cup holders too?

One disadvantage to a front loading, glass front washer. Genuine distress for a solid 15 minutes.

We discovered the iPhone flashlight is perfect for shadow puppets.

Finally got a shot of Avery's favorite (but elusive) dragonfly with the "butterfly" wings. We looked it up and it's real name is a "Halloween Pennant."

I ♥ this one. He was just sitting there, watching sister finish her popsicle on the front porch.

Fall means the return of weekend football on the tv, back to preschool, and rain. Lots of rain. It's becoming increasingly obvious that my current San-Diego-based wardrobe is sorely lacking in wet weather functionality. But what exactly DO you wear when it's dumping sideways rain and still 80 degrees outside?! And would you vote for whimsical patterned or practical solid color galoshes?

Practical solid galoshes! I love Hunters but couldn't ever justify them, since you know...it rains so much here.

Love that picture of Lear too, btw!
